Well, here is the detailed step-by-steps on what to do.

Disable Windows XP Firewall
- Since Windows XP Firewall runs as a service in Windows XP, we need to disable it inside Windows “Services” Management Console. <
li>To open “Services” Management Console, we need to go to “Start” -> “Programs” -> “Administrative Tools” -> “Services”.
- In Services, under “Names”, find “Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)”
Double-click on the entry, a window “Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) Properties” will appear.
- Click “Stop” button under “Service status”.
- There you go, you have successfully disable Windows XP Firewall.
- Since Windows XP Firewall runs as a service in Windows XP, we need to disable it inside Windows “Services” Management Console. <

Turn Off Windows XP Firewall
- To turn off Windows XP Firewall, click “Start” -> “Control Panel”.
- Find “Windows Firewall” and double-click it to open the properties window.
- Under “General” tab, there are two options
- On(recommended) - This setting blocks all outside sources from connecting to this computer, with the exception of those selected on the Exceptions tab.
- Off(not recommeded) - Avoid using this setting. Turning off Windows Firewall may make this computer more vulnerable to viruses and intruders.
- To turn off Windows XP Firewall, select option “Off” and click OK.
- There you go, you have successfully turn off Windows XP Firewall.

Uninstall Windows XP Firewall
- Uninstall Windows XP Firewall is more for the advanced user, since it involved going into dos prompt to do something.
- Well, in my opinion we can’t really uninstall Windows XP Firewall, since the following steps actually remove Windows XP Firewall service from Windows XP “Services” Management Console.
- Disable Windows XP Firewall (a must since we are going to remove it later”. Please refer (a) above.
After succesfully removed, proceed to next step.
- Go to Windows XP Command Prompt - run “cmd” and enter.
- Type “sc delete sharedaccess” and enter
- There you go, you have just removed Windows Firewall Service shortcuts in “Services” Management Console and removed Windows XP Firewall completely.
