Automated Backup in Windows XP

Automated Backup is important for your Windows XP System. It protects your Windows XP system from accidental data loss after the system having hardware or software failure.

You can store the automated backup copies into an other storage devices, such as floopy disk, CDR, CDRW, DVDR or tape.

To use automated backup utility for Windows XP, first we need to configure it to do the backup. Let’s get hands on into the configuration part.

Two modes are provided. Advanced mode and Wizard mode.

  1. Click on [Backup] tab.
  2. Expand My Computer.
  3. Check System State - items inside system states are boot files, COM+ Class Registration Database and Registry.
  4. Select any other folder that contains important data that you want to include in your automated backup.
  5. Specify Backup media or file name as well (bottom left).
  6. Press Start Backup (bottom right).
  7. On Backup Jpb Information window, you can choose to run this backup once or can schedule it to run in the future.
  8. To run now once, click Start. Backup will start and a report will be generted after it has finished.

  10. In Scheduled Job Options window, put in a job name, for example “Automated Backup Windows XP”.
  11. Click Properties to choose how often to run this backup, what time to run as well as other advanced options such as Idle time, Scheduled Task Completed and Power Management. Automated Backup in Windows XP Image 3
  12. Click ok to comfirm schedule task. Then click Start Backup to start Automated Backup in Windows XP.

That is it, you have just completed to make a backup of Windows XP system states and other important files. And if you have scheduled an automated backup for Windows XP, you will be sure to have a backup of important files when disaster strikes.
